“Be rich in good deeds”: Turning Today’s Generosity into Tomorrow’s Ministry

Published On: October 1, 20261.9 min read

For people of faith, giving is more than a transaction. It is an expression of gratitude, obedience, compassion and stewardship.

Through the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, individuals, families, churches, ministries and faith-based organizations can stretch their dollars so their generosity goes even further.

Here’s how:

For individuals or families, open a donor advised fund.

A donor advised fund (DAF) allows you to create a strategic reservoir for generosity. You can contribute cash, appreciated stock, real estate and other eligible assets; receive an immediate charitable tax deduction; invest those charitable assets for potential tax-free growth; and recommend grants over time to qualified charitable organizations.

But your fund does more than steward your funds well. It allows you to model generosity for your family and establish a tradition of giving.

Giving through your DAF can become a family affair! Together, parents, children and grandchildren can come together, pray together, identify needs together and experience the joy of giving together.

For churches and faith-based organizations, open an agency fund.

Donated dollars often sit idle in a bank, accruing a small percentage of interest, until they can be used to bless others. Through an agency fund, assets can be professionally invested and can grow tax-free to support the organization’s charitable mission.

A stronger financial foundation can mean more resources for ministry, missions, feeding families, serving children, caring for seniors, supporting mental health, helping people in crisis and responding when the community needs the church most.

The goal isn’t simply accumulating money. The goal is multiplying ministry.

With an agency fund, you can turn today’s generosity into tomorrow’s ministry.

So what’s your next step?

As you prayerfully consider your giving goals, we invite you to ask: “How can I faithfully and wisely steward what I have been blessed to give?”

At the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, we’re here to help you answer that question. When you open a fund with CFNEG, we provide the charitable structure, administration and stewardship support, while our investment partnership with Capital Group provides professional investment management for charitable assets held at the Foundation.

That means one act of generosity can have an impact far beyond the moment in which your gift was made.
